The launch of Colo-X Africa, the new independent data centre and colocation broker, neatly coincides with the start of Africa’s premier technology and telecoms event, AfricaCom. For Colo-X Africa’s Alistair Scott, the timing could not be more apt.
Alistair has over 14 years’ experience in the ICT industry, having spent almost his entire career working for Internet Solutions (IS), a division of Dimension Data who are part of the NTT Group. While at IS, he performed numerous roles, but spent the majority of his time in the Cloud Business unit. This is where Alistair gained valuable experience in the cloud computing and data centre market.
Alistair has a particularly keen interest in the data centre landscape and the efficiencies that they can create for enterprises. And this is something he is excited about pursuing further through Colo-X Africa, which he has formed togetker with Tim Anker, the UK-based founder of Colo-X.
“I’ve known Tim and followed his work for a while,” said Alistair. “And having been impressed by what Colo-X has acheived since 2004 in London and the UK, I felt we could make a similar offer avaialable to businesses seeking data centre and colocation services here in Africa.”
A new database of data centres in Africa
Colo-X Africa is building a searchable database of data centres across the continent. Visitors to africa.colo-x.com can find data centres using a list, which can be filtered by country, or search using a map, which can hone in on a particular location or radius. Colocation buyers can then read an overview of each data centre’s facilities.
